The “Zagorka” factory is located in the center of Bedekovčina, and as a factory of bricks and firesand, it was one of the largest companies of its time with more than 500 employees. The factory covers an area of about 60,000 m2, and the building structure of the factory consists of an old brick factory building and ancillary buildings and warehouses. The factory was built by the Zagreb builder Ferdo Stejskal in 1889, as part of the “Stejskal Brothers Firesandand Bricks Factory”, and the impetus for its construction was quality clay and the proximity of the Zagreb–Čakovec railway. In the 1920s, warehouse buildings were erected, and the historic architecture today is surrounded by the recent construction of production halls and new administrative buildings, built on the site of former factory chimneys. The building has significant architectural and documentary value because it is the oldest building of this type in the Republic of Croatia. With the aim of developing cultural infrastructure, the Municipality plans to convert the space into a multimedia center.

In the Heart of Zagorje, besides the renovated and functional castles and manors, there are many structures on the verge of oblivion. In order to breathe new life into them, the Srce Zagorje Tourist Board, in collaboration with the Zlatko Dragutin Tudjina Museum of the City of Pregrada, initiated the project “Revived Heritage”. This allows all passersby, travelers and well-wishers to learn more about the rich cultural heritage of the region. Panels with illustrations depicting the attractions as they once looked have been placed next to former buildings, their remnants or the locations where they once stood.
