Around the feast of St. Mark, the patron saint of farmers and on the eve of the beginning of spring work in the fields, a gathering of farmers and the blessing of fields, tractors and tractor drivers is held under the name “Markovo na Strugači”. The event takes place at the top of Strugača, the dividing line of the municipalities of Bedekovčina, Mihovljan, Sveti Križ Začretje, Mače and the City of Krapina, and the dividing line of the parishes of Orehovica, Mihovljan and Sveti Križ Začretje. The event was started with the aim to make people more considerate towards the work of cultivating the land with tractors on the steep and therefore dangerous hills of Zagorje, in order to reduce the number of accidents of tractor drivers. The goal is also to point out that the land should be cultivated and not neglected.
