When passing through this area, the ancient Romans noticed that warm, crystal clear and drinkable water springs from the earth. They called it Aquae Vivae – living water. It has been shown to be particularly suitable for rheumatism, spinal diseases, neuro-muscular disorders, diabetes with joint complications, post-traumatic conditions, conditions before and after orthopedic, surgical and neurosurgical procedures on the locomotor system, heart disease and peripheral vascular diseases, improvement of postinfarction and postoperative conditions.

According to the international classification, the water is hyperthermal (temperature 41°C), it springs from leitha limestone and belongs to the acratotherma category. In the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation Krapinske Toplice it is used for therapy and to fill all the pools of the Aquae Vivae Water Park. Furthermore, the first Croatian thermal mineral water for skin renewal - aquaKTH2O - was also launched on the market.
